My six week old jumbo brown male is running around grabbing everyone by the head after with a quite but intense and quick battle ensues and he is often the loser. Is he trying to mate or being a shot we he has started growling at us and charging us and biting when we open the cage

It sounds like he's being aggressive to me, that's what one of my males does to the other. The victim ended up getting plucked, then decided to fight back and left a big gash in the aggressor's neck. If he was trying to mate, he would just grab some neck feathers and try to jump on. At least that's my opinion. Especially since he seems to be displaying aggression towards you as well.

Mom to one rambunctious 4-year-old, and the one who brings the food to my "blended family" of several coturnix and a silkie hen. (Flock? Covey? Flovey?) Proud chicken momma of 2 easter eggers, 2 speckled sussex, and 2 silver cuckoo marans, and beginning the adventure of hatching coturnix eggs.

Thanks .

Yeah he is being a complete snot. Im not even sure I want to breed him now. I dont remmber any of my jumbo brown being like this the last time I had him well I had one female that was agressive with the males actually but never to anyone else this guy will attack anyone that opens the cage he has actually fallen out of the cage a few times now becuaes he has lunged so hard at us when we open it to get them fresh food or water. The female in there dosnt seem to be injured in any way so I have left her in but one of the white ones died Im not sure if it was the one that was drooling water and gagging or if he just beat it up or what but the other boy and girl got there new home and are pretty happy in it. That boy is white and he coudnt be more diffrent I can hold him and he will dust bath on me and sit with me and hang out . Unlike mr crabby pants.
