Green iridescence... on a HEN'S train?

Ok... so all my birds are dropping their coverlets (trains) and tail feathers. Cool. They're still young, and since we live in a cold climate, they are slow growers. The boys have trains, even at 2 years, that have no eyes and are mostly brown with a little iridescence. That's pretty normal for this area.

BUT

I was feeding some kibble to my girl, Osiris (who is very clearly a girl), and I noticed she is dropping her coverlets as well, and that the bottom layer of coverlets... have vague white stripe patterns, and green iridescence. I checked my other girls... They don't have this. Has anyone else seen this in your girls?

I don't know specifically to your situation, but I have seen older hens (both in peafowl and pheasants) develop colour in areas not usually seen on the hens.

I have one like that she has some green blood in her., she also has a darker green neck, the top of her head is green instead of brown like a pure IB hen.

She's just turned 2 this month.... And there's no green blood in her... Her neck is, if anything, less green than the others.

Then perhaps it's the lighting that does that effect ?

Hmmm...Maybe if she is the oldest, the others' feathers aren't yet fully developed the iridescence isn't so visible on them yet ?

I'm just supposing, since the feathers I collected from my trips at the zoo do show green iridescence, when exposed to a certain light if I turn them following a certain angle.

Or is the green always and constantly visible no matter the angle you are looking from ?
