Buffy is our only Orpington. She is independent, lower on the pecking order, but big, fluffy and likes to cluck. She lays frequently when not broody. She's my only brooder so far that I have...

I just LOVE my sicilian buttercup, Poppy. Anytime I go outside she loves to hop up onto my back or my arm. She's very curious and loves to he held or played with. I've also noticed that she loves...

Sebastopols are far quieter than an African goose will ever be. They will honk when startled, to communicate or when excited, but so does every goose. They don't carry on just hear themselves though.
Ours free range with ducks and chickens both, we separate the sebbies into breeding groups beginning in December here, but those groups still have ducks and chickens out with them during the day as well.
90% of their diet should be grazing, so a typical backyard in a neighborhood is not adequate space as it could lead to the grass being over worked.
If you intend to show, you need to buy WHITE, CURLY BREASTED Sebastopols only (for this particular breed) in order to meet the APA standard. All other colors have yet to be approved, and so can only be shown under "all other geese" and would never be best in show.
You also will want to buy fall juveniles (which will cost more) so you KNOW you are buying SQ stock. To buy goslings will be running the risk of getting a bird not made for showing, but would still make a fine pet and lawn ornament.
Be very careful selecting birds, and who you chose to purchase from. Lots of great breeders out there, and lots of people trying to make a quick buck off the breeds name selling sub par birds.

My one Sebbie is very quite, and I haven't heard him honk or make any noise at all since I got him. Whereas my Roman goose goes on and on when I come to feed, or something upsets her.
My Buff Geese are also very quite and gentle. Good luck on your search!
