I thought I would update on Sophia.
I found a local Zebu breeder who came out and showed me how to handle and train Miss Sophia.
She has advised on feeding and having a daily routine.
We started tying her out in the field for brief periods of time under constant supervision on an 8 ft lead line to the back of a golf cart. The first few days were stressful as she attacked, kicked and slammed the cart on the way in and out of the stall. I had to have the cart and gate between myself and her royal pain heifer princess.
Its taken a month of routine, grain in a bucket and nerves, but I can NOW open the stall door and walk her out to a post and tie her all day on a 50 ft line to graze. She has learned exactly where she can reach and where to stop. She has learned how to sling her head to adjust the rope and how to step over and around the rope. At dusk I go out with the feed bucket and lead her back to the stall, stand back (holding the line) and she will go in on her own, back up and wait for me to feed her!!
Still cant touch her but she is improving!!! Lots more work to do but I am glad I didn't let her die!
Chickenzoo I found a mini horse halter and it has worked wonderfully! and Thanks to my friend in Cali that sent us the rope halters for training!
My Tiny Princess Sophia!
