If you took a dog to Spain you wouldn't have to keep him in full coat. A nice short trim would help with the heat

Oh Oesdog!. I wish I could Just give you a big hug. Caregiving is really exhausting. It is always hard for someone who has not been there to understand. I took care of my husband for 10 years before he passed with no real help from anyone.Go to Spain.while you can. It may even help your husband's health to get away from the stress. my prayers are with you. Take care of yourself for a change
Deb

Yes I think I want to go away to Spain and put the dog on hold. It isn't as if we don;t have a wee dog here and he is much easier to get someone to look after for us than the big guy used to be.
Also a few folk keep saying about service dogs. - THe main thing about the Dogs is that it is nothing to do with Danny or Ben. Just something DH and I had a good interest in and loved. It was something we enjoyed for us. I hate it when folk assume that every aspect of life has to revolve around disability I am totally sick of disability. I want DH to get well and be ok. I don;t want to be thinking omg is he going to have heart failure today? I don;t want to be a widow. - Spain v Dog. - I think Spain guys. Even yesterday which was my Birthday it kind of went like this. DH managed to get out and get me some lovely things and he gave me money to shop which is always wonderful.
DD phoned up and aasked me what time she was to come over for the PARTY I was to organize?????????????? Who's Birthday???
eldest Son phoned as he was going through the door of his work - Oh I say, the card you sent didn't arrive I waited for the post before I came out. He says - mum I didn't send one I have no money! I will phone you later - he never phoned back. Brain injured son. I found a nice beach bag I liked and gave it to him to give to me! He forgot about my birthday. Which is fine as he needs prompts. He did come over and brought flowers and a card once I reminded him but then spent the time in a bad form. Very disabled son - was helped to get me a lovely new coffee mug because every girl under stress needs coffee! My Dad sent me a card with a puppy on the front. Only he mixed me up with my sister and the puppy is a collie which is her favourite breed. Oh well. I enjoyed my day - but secretly hoped someone had stashed a spanish holiday or a puppy? Disapointed on both counts. I did however shop for party food and help with the cooking and washing up! I want Spain!!!!!!!!
Oes - I am sick to death of caring for ungrateful xxxxxxxxxxxx !!!!!!!!!!

i see where you are coming from now! i have not had to care for anyone to that extent yet. My husband's father is destined for a wheelchair in the next decade so I will be there at some point as there is no one else to care for him. My husband and I are already planning for that situation when it arises. His father won't want to come here to live with us but won't have any choice. So we have planned to add onto the house and get a service dog for him when the time comes. He will be of sound mind, but wheelchair bound. Maybe make yourself not so available to the children that can function without you. Sometimes a person doesn't appreciate someone until they are gone. If you can afford it, plan your vacation and go it sounds like you REALLY need it! When you get back...get your pup! God Bless!
The good news!!!!!!
No pup yet - because we are booked to go to Spain and its all paid for as of last night. DH and I are really excited. Though we don;t have his date for the heart op yet so we hope it wont be in that time! Ahhh !!!!!! We just need out of here. Though we leave in 4 weeks which is FOREVER away! OMG - I have packed already!!!!!!!! We are going out for a week this time and while we are there we will look for longterm options. We will rent there first as we need to get our head round their ways of doing things and folk who bought got into problems there in the past. So we will see what happens.
Sooooooooooooooooooo excited.
We are going to put Dan into longterm care I can;t do it anymore. Yesterday he bit DH in the face and hurt my arm. As we get older we simply cannot deal with it. So Spain looks like it is winning. I just had a belly full of the kids on my Birthday and thought - girl its YOU time!! I sure miss the old boy though and am so upset at his loss. It isn;t that I don;t want one just not yet I have to go enjoy a bit of life first!
So it's thanks Murph for all the good times and - now because you are not here it is giving me options to have some more different good times and make more good memories but I will never forget you pup!
