convert to nipples, i did after 4 yrs and I LOVE them

Death is the standard breech for a complex prize - Deftones- (never more true than with chickens)

I NEED MORE COW BELL!

Yeah, I'm still around and still raising chickens.

lets face it if I changed my avatar now it'd just be wierd!

In summer when it is very hot I keep probably 10 water containers out for my chickens--4-5 flat pans, 2 founts, and several plastic 1 gallon waterers with ACV in them.  They like to cool their feet in the flat "pig pans" by standing in them as well as drink from them.  The rest get shavings and a bit of poo in them since half of my 70 chickens are young ones from spring.  In winter I will have half that many and only 2 heated waterers.

If the water is on the ground try to put it on a brick or something to get it up higher. They tend to scratch around and kick stuff into the water. It worked for me but I still get the occasional junk in the water.idunno.gif

I used to have this problem all the time and fixed it by putting the waterer up on a brick! Did the same with the food and now, less food is lost :)

So far, this works for me best, but the wind actually blows in more dust out here than the chickens drag in themselves.

You can buy waterers that you can hang up in the coop.

I'm out of eggs. But I know where some brown ones are. I now raise big Ol' Honkin' Bob Whites & Layed back Coturnix. Pray For Rain In Texas!

The best options are either to elevate the chicken coop, or get a hanging waterer.... I elevate mine on bricks and put in the coop, not the run, try it and see how you like it!fl.gif

Hanging the water at the height of their backs will most likely eliminate the problem.
