Getting chicks in the fall...

Hello all, I was wondering if it was ok for me to get baby chicks in the fall (like September) ? My township is trying to pass a law saying that we are not permitted to have chickens on our property starting the beginning of next year. So I wanted to get them before they pass it so I can be grandfathered in.... Any advice? Thanks everyone!

It shouldn't be a problem. Just watch the temperature. They may not lay until after the cold passes
