!!!Our First Eggs!!! (2 in one day!)

Oh my gosh---Our little Chickie Darlings have started laying!!!  Well, two of our Darlings have started laying anyway....

Our Golden Comets are 19 weeks old today.  When I went out to give them their daily ration of yogurt and feed this morning, I checked (like I have every day for the last 3 weeks!) the laying boxes for eggs.  I was disappointed once again that we had no eggs.  So many people have posted that their Comets laid at 16 or 17 weeks; I was starting to get pretty frustrated!  When we went out to turn the girls loose for free-range, I checked one more time.....  And there, next to their laying boxes (not IN their laying boxes) were two lovely little eggs.  I nearly had a heart attack!

One dark brown with redish speckles and one brownish pink egg.

Next to an icky old store bought large egg.....

A little small, right?  But they will get bigger.  (Right?)  lol

Now of course, I worry if I don't have something to worry about, so.....

What shall I do about them not laying eggs IN the laying boxes?  I already have fake eggs in each box...?

And where does everyone stand on feeding egg shell back to the chickens?  I already feed them yogurt or cottage cheese along with oyster shell for extra calcium.  Oh and since the eggs could have been out in the heat for as much as 6 hours, will these be ok to eat?

Oh my goodness, I am just SOOO excited!  Now just gotta get the other 4 girls to start laying too!  It's been a fabulous 19 weeks.  I have already enjoyed my girls sooo much!  Though I feel like we've been waiting for eggs FOREVER---I just had to share my enthusiasm with folks that would appreciate the situation!  Non-chicken people just don't understand!  *giggle fit*

CONGRATS!!!!!!!There is nothing like going out and finding your first eggs.My dad was taught to feed chickens back there egg shells for calcium. They couldnt afford to by any thing else.So thats what we do.I wash them them put in oven just long enough to dry the water up then crush them up and feed back to them. my hens just started laying too there eggs are small but ive read they do get larger the more they lay. And CONGRATS again(:
