North Alabama owners available for boarding???

I am reaching out to anyone who has advice or can help.

Hurricane season is upon us and it looks like we might be in the real thick of it.

I live in New Orleans, and my husband is in the coast guard... that fact alone makes hurricane evacuations very stressful. Now add the fact that we have 2 dogs, 2 bunnies, and 3 ducks.

When I evacuate all of my animals will be coming with me!!! We typically go to Birmingham if rooms are available but more then likely end up in Huntsville.

However, while the dogs can stay in the hotel room no problem, and I a pretty sure my 2 dwarf bunnies will not be an issue, I think there will be some problems with 3 ducks (2 pekins, and 1 black swedish).

I am trying to get a game plan, and am wondering if anybody would be able to duck sit/ board for me in that area during the evacuation. I willl provide all of the ducks food, feeders, and waters.

If no one is able to do so, I completely understand it is asking alot, if you cant board could you please recommend a facility that would maybe do so... (a shelter, vet clinic ect)

Please PM me or reply if you can.

Hopefully, I will not have to need this service, but I want to be prepared ahead of time.

I am in New England, so I cannot help you directly, I just want to thank you for reminding everyone that we need to plan to shelter our animals.

Looking for ducks?  Please consider adopting rescued ducks.  There are many places and people who do rescues, but we are not allowed to post the links due to BYC regs.  So fire up your web browsers and find some sweet, grateful duckies.

take them with you in a dog kennel (plastic airline approved kind) swim them in the hotel tub, clean it regularly and call it done.

My parents have a farm out in Priceville (right off I-65). They have room for a few ducks. And now two geese to guard them. They have had ducks before and while you would need to set up some sort of pen (dog kennel would be plenty), I bet they would be open to pet sitting for you. Would you like me to speak with them?
