HI,
I have two broody hens that are sitting on eggs. The hens are both Cochins (they are bantams). The eggs are set to hatch any day now. This is my first broody hatch so I am looking for any advice.

My two biggest concerns right now are if the other hens will pick on the babies once they’re born and if I should move the nests to the ground

I don’t think that the hens will pick on them because every time one of the TSC hens goes near the broody hens, the broody hen puffs up and clucks until they walk away. Like I said, this is my first "natural" hatch so I need any advice anyone has.

Thanks!

The best thing to do with a broody is leave her alone, but it is also hard to do. How far off the florr is the nest?

These are what are nest boxes look like. I am worried about the chicks being able to get in and out of the bins

you might need to make some steps for them to get out. I use scrap lumber or flat rocks. I don't know is the hen will take them back into the tub, but you can make some steps for them to get in too.
