Silly chick behaviour-- should I be concerned??

Hello all a quick checkin-- now that the chicks are 3 weeks old and they only come indoors (off heat) at night I have taken to giving them a "treat" of  mash (their crumbles mixed with warm water-- it was raining as we brought them in this eve)-- well their mash is in a little dog bowl and something about the curvature of the bowl I think but one of the chicks always gets down into the bowl and spreads his little wings and rolls around and takes a little dust bath in it!  All the while his peers are eating madly and the bowl is empty by morning ... I dont really like that he wallows in his feed, but so far no poops and it is all eaten so..... any thoughts thanks..... Just wondering....

That's weird.. especially since the food is wet hmm.png

I have had a hen try to take a dust bath on concrete though, so the conclusion is: Chickens are indeed strange tongue.png

My Lacy used to do the same thing! Sooo funny.

Now she is older she is the first one to find dirt for them all to roll and play in.

She will even fluff and flap on me when we have a cuddle. It's so funny to watch her getting comfy.

Ok so he is not the Only One! It is medicated feed and I was wondering if/ what effect Amprolium has on their pores....I guess outside or inside doesnt really matter...

I have to agree with you that chickens are strange, some of my chicks have tried more than once to take a dust bath on paper towels, I think they've grown out of it though.
