duckling born with eye stuck together

I checked my duck this morning who is sitting and a week apart from each other there are two ducklings. They are up this morning and in the food while mum is still sitting. I noticed that one however has its one shut together. I am not sure if its stuck or if there is no eye at all. What should I do? Mum is not keen on me looking!!!

I'd give it a quick examine, and check, then if it's matted together or stuck use some warm saline type water and a piece of gauze and see if you can wash the eye real good. don't necessarily try to open the eye lid just wash it real good and see if you can tell whats going on. If you have Veterycin you can use it also to spray on the eye to make it wet and maybe tell whats going on. Do this away from where mama is sitting so she won't come after you and leave her eggs.
