trying to find out breed and gender.

Hi,  great site.  I am trying to find out what looks to be typical questions of breed and gender.  Mostly gender.  I have 4 birds all are the same age about 10 weeks old.  I have additional pictures.  Let me know if you need specific shots.

Thanks in advance.

The first and last ones look like Easter Eggers. The first one is a cockerel, and the last one is a pullet.

The second one could be a Black Star. But she is def. a pullet.

The third one looks like some kind of Old English Game or game bantam.

It's the shape that makes the breed, and the color that makes the variety.

If the 3rd one starts getting white earlobes she's most likely a Leghorn.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I was afraid that the 1st was a cockerel and just read the article "what to do with unwanted cockerels".  So 3 of the 4 are layers and one is possibly a bantam,  hmmm not sure if i want mini eggs either, lol.

I don't think the third one is an OEGB, if she was, she wouldnt be taller than that feeder thing! lol they are TINY! wink.png. I agree, she does look like a Leghorn, are her ears white? If so, you have yourself a leghorn! Number 2 Black Star.

(Edited to say she WOULDN'T be taller than the feeder thing.)

If you have a bantam, you would know as it would be less than half the size of your other birds. I don't see that here.

EE cockeral

That second bird--does look like a black sex link but does she have fluffy feathers or a crest on the back of her head? I think it's just the pic but she makes me think of a silkie mix. If no crest or feathers on her legs, I'll agree black sex link.

White rock or leghorn. Hard for me to tell at this age cause they're all lankier. If she gets heavier bodied, it's a rock. Red earlobes mean rock, white mean leghorn.

EE or mixed pullet.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!
