Thankyou just a couple of questions...

1. are they both non medicated?

2. On the second link it says something about weat, what does that mean?

yes they are both non medicated

the second link

Should be fed from 6-8 weeks onwards, and may be fed to appetite. Restrict the feed or mix with wheat to slow the growth rate.
DRUG-FREE, so may be fed to finish for table birds.
For birds that are to be kept as laying hens, introduce Natural Free Range Layers Pellets from 16 weeks.

the weat means:

protein is requireed for birds to grow crumbs 18% growers at 15%

weat has little protein so if you mix teh pellets with weat then the protein level will drop and hence teh chicks will grow much slower

meat birds need loads of protein as they require quick muscle fattenning

layers need a mormal growth so just normal growers no mix with evening treats is fine

and then you have birds that you just want to allow and nice slow growth and take their time on

there you mix to lower the protein

me i like to mix 18% with 15% and give me an avarage of 16% - 17% thats a good number for Breeders

or you can just buy breeders pellets

so is it ok to just feed growers pellets? or would it be best to mix weat?, i don't undertsnad alot haha

just feed plain simple growers pellets from week 6 through to week 18

if its a cockrel the after week 18 mix it to bring down the protwin so you slow the fattening as fattening is not good for a cockrel that you may want to use for breeding

if its oullets then put them onto Layers pellets

me i give my cockrels layers aswell as its the same as mixing as protein is at a good amount

okk thanks, by the way what are the risks of feeding layers pellets to chicks? im trying to proove my friend wrong who says its ok for them to eat it..

its not ok for them to eat it

i know alot of people that do it and its not the right thing to do

it wont kill them but its not made for that chicks age

it has a much lower protein content and chicks wont flurish and will be weak

chicks need a high protein balance (game birds even higher)

infact low protein can cause chicks to get into all sorts of illnesses and immune system not developing along with other things

considering that 20kg layers is £12, Growers 20kg £12 and chick crumbs 20kg £12 even breeders pellets 20kg £12

i dont see this as a marketing depoly to make more money from people but a well thought out recipe and clear reason as to why its required and why different feed is required during different times of life

you wouldnt feed solid food to a human 1 month old baby nore wuld you give chips to a 6 month old baby

same way humans have milk, puree food and then solids all with different essential vitamins and minerals so do animals need it too

it dont sound too bad although corn and wheat should be a treat food

personally i would let her get on with it and not buy any chicken from her as the strain cannot be garunteed and the linage could break down or have resessive illnesses with in them
