Lice and Sevin dust

Thread Starter

I have bathed my chicks in Poultry Protector twice and they still have lice.  I am going to try the garbage bag with sevin dust now.  Can anyone tell me how much dust should be in the bag?  Also, these chickens are my sons pets, he holds them and they perch on his shoulder.  How long should I tell him he has to avoid contact after the dusting?  Some references say lice only live on the host, but others say spray down the coop.  I am wondering which is true.

here is a link for pesticides

Sevin is not approved for poultry anymore.

You will want to spray your coop with permethrin and dust the bird with poultry dust as well, every week until bugs are dead, to get the hatching eggs.
