Fan Danger - Page 2

The main reason is, the incubators are mainly used for chicken eggs and even if a chicken stood up in the bator it most likely wouldn't reach the fan. Unfortunately they never knew that people would be hatching a peafowl egg in it. They should as a precaution add a fan guard to all incubators. I went on GQF manufacturing website and I could not even purchase a fan guard on the website.

 

The chicks healed and feathers grew back, but I can't remember if the white one that was the worse , grew the head (crown) feathers on the top of his head or not. Yes that little one turned out to be a white peacock. Will add pics of what they look like today on Thursday (my day off)

When I was hatching chickens.  One had a bloody head, not as bad but today I wonder if it didn't also get into the fan.  They tend to pile up.  I agree they are intended for chickens, but should have a guard none the less.  I see where they have a large egg turner, now. 

Thank goodness the chicks healed and can't wait to see the pictures.  It is amazing how Pecky 's injury has already dried. He's eating drinking and struting around like he was never hurt.

Poor baby but you know what i have seen chicks scalped as well as geese and they all healed up just fine as long as it does not get into the muscle

I have a i have a strafoam huvabator i use for small hatches and it has a cover over the fan, i know you made one but if you need to redue it you could use the plastic canvas that can be purchased for about a dollar a sheet at walmart in the craft section.

They come in many sizes try to find the one with the biggest holes.

I never thought about plastic canvas.  I have plenty of it and will redo it with that.  So glad to see you are back will read to find how DH is.
