Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

I won an auction on Ebay for 12 imported English Orphington eggs and I am absolutely crawling around in my skin waiting. The seller said she's ship them today so I expect babies by Friday, and then to set Saturday.

 

This is my 3rd hatch, but my first hatch where I've spent this much money for eggs, so a good hatch rate is what I'm going for.

 

Anyone else getting ready to set eggs?

I am looking at set eggs this Friday or Saturday.  I have Silkie/SG eggs coming from ebay and from a fellow backyardian. This is my first attempt at silkies. 

 

I have one lonely Brahma egg in lock down now. The only survivor of terrible seller packing.

1 quarter horse, 1 tuxedo cat, 1 siberian hamsters, 3 dogs, 1 hermit crab, 7 freshwater fish, 5 Brahma chickens, 2 showgirl chickens, 9 silkies, 7production chickens, 12 to be determined bantam chicks, 2 pekin ducks and 1 swedish duck....I should hatch a partridge for the pear tree to round it off.

I did silkies my first hatch, I had a decent hatch rate, but I had to assist 3-4 of the 9 that made it. Talk about terrifying!

 

I've been very lucky. All of my eggs have arrived unharmed, and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that my Ophingtons get here the same way!

I'm so excited about this next hatch, I don't know how I'm going to survive 21 days!

I have two shipments both arriving hopefully tomorrow. A dear friend said she wants more Brahmas, and specifically a rooster, so I found some eggs and decided to try to hatch her some. And a lovely BYCer had some Swedish Flower eggs that I bought and cannot wait. I got 3 from my last hatch and they are gorgeous birds. Bator is up and running to make sure it holds in its new location. I canceled the kids' dentist appointments to be here to pick up the eggs, lol.

That's commitment!

 

Good luck with your hatch. I'm sitting on pins and needles, my eggs shipped out today. I'm expecting them before Friday, and I'm really hoping that I can force myself to wait a day and let them settle before I put them in the incubator....but that never happens! lol

I have saved back some of my own eggs to put in the bator tomarrow.  I have 11 right now but I'm hoping to get that last one from my hen Peaches in the morning.  If I dont get it I might wait until Thursday the 9th to start them.  I love hatching!!

Small town, stay at home mom, with a wonderful husband, three darling young boys, four Catahoula Leopard Hounds, a Bluetick and an ever changing flock of chickens.

This is my third for the year as well!  First one was a disaster, I found out that some how over the winter my thermometer was almost 3 degrees off from last year.  So out of 75 eggs, three hatchedhit.gif  Second went great (new thermometer ) got 70 chicks.  And if I dont stop after this my husband might burn the incubator.  Just kidding!
