Just found our 3 1/2 month old Americauna, Lily, looking like this in the run.  I have a call into our poultry vet trying to get an appointment.  In the meantime, any ideas as to what's wrong with her, and better yet, suggestions for what we can do to help her??!!!

She looks downright miserable!!!

My first thought is Coccidiosis...easily cured with Corid in the drinking water for 5 - 7 days.

If it's not cocci, maybe a bad case of blackhead? Hope she gets better!

You might want to consider Botulism. Here's a link that shows symptoms: http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/205400.htm

Botulism is more prevalent in hot weather. They can get it naturally from the soil but usually they get it from food that's gotten wet and then begins to get moldy.

I'm certainly no expert as I'm new to the chicken hobby but I lost a hen to what I think was botulism which is why I'd been reading up on it.

Two old people and two young-adult children. One senior chocolate lab and one rescued black and tan American Coon Hound. Home of "The Best Mouser In The World", Lily, a calico cat that adopted us. 2 Black Star's, 1 Red Star and BABY CHICKS! Have added 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Ameraucana, and 1 Delaware to the flock. The construction of our new coop: http://www.backyardchickens.com/...

mtnlaurl -- I think you are right!  It's very hot and humid here right now, so we definitely may have mold spores in the feed.  The photo in the link you included sure looks like she does.  I'm researching treatment for botulism now.  Thank you!!
