Theron, your friend has a very nice voice.  She has the whole package, actually.  Very pretty.  Hope she gets discovered.

I still have two very pretty bantam favorelle, favorelle/wyandotte roosters that need a home before my neighbor turns me in.  They look very favorelle to me, but were exposed to a bantam wyandotte rooster also.  So can't say how pure they are.  Doesn't any one want a pair of beautiful roos???

The TSC up here has Dumor layer for $15 per bag - just bought some yesterday

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Happy birthday Mama! And happy birthday to your son!

That is amazing!!! I heard you are supposed to leave the sugar water out 2 weeks after seeing your last humming bird as they head south. i guess that would be for the slow pokes.

I always leave the feeders out till Oct 1st. Some folks believe that if you don't take them in then the hummingbirds won't leave. I believe the hummers know better than to stick around.

Pm'ing you about the fairies.

Whose birthday did I miss??? Happy birthday!!

I always leave mine a couple weeks after I stop seeing the hummers, not sure if it's laziness or what I was told to do tongue.png

I set them out the first or second week of May before I see them depending on how cold the average temp is that particular year.

Here is a link that shows this years reported migration of the ruby throat hummingbird, I think that is the only Michigan species

Here in the 'burbs, hummingbirds are still pretty rare. I suspect that there are too many cats roaming the neighborhood, but that is more a guess than anything else.

The last few days have been awash with migrating monarch butterflies. (In spite of the city making me cut down the front butterfly garden).  Also seeing a lot of Eastern tiger and black swallowtails.

The hummers were late showing up this year in my yard.  I had the feeder out for weeks before I saw any, I was actually starting to get worried.  I keep my feeders up until we have frost on a steady basis, I worry about stragglers.

Already behind on several posts!! lol I aint ever going to catch up!

Beautiful day out for hauling manure and brush hogging the lane!!

Had to take a break to let dawg recover. I think he is about 13 years and one run to manure pile is all he can take.

Hillbilly Hen- I also got a broody hutch that your husband made and its been in use since I got it home. Someone aways back posted about their hutch and I just want to second that.

I have seen Chickflicks roos and they are pure favorella (sp?). The blue is gorgeous.

I also have a roo looking for a home. A blue marans with rust on head and wings, He also has dark blue/black in tail so could be a splash. Got at CS so about 3 mouths old.If I can find camera I will post picture. Could be used to cross with EE's to produce olive eggers.

Back to my manure! Black gold!! lol

Thanks, I will check them out! Wish I could find a local feed store that wasn't so expensive. I think the ones close to our house buy their stuff from TSC and then sell it for more than they paid.
