Proof that roosters lay brown eggs.

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

I never who have believed it possible for roosters to lay eggs but evidently it must happen.  Where else could Uggos come from if Mom seems to only have roosters.  Don't anyone tell them church folks or they'll be protesting outside her house.

Is this a bantam cochin?  This chicken is at the John Ball Zoo, and I admire her every time we go.  If Townline supplies these, I might try to figure out how to identify them in the bantam barrel in the Spring.  Can they be feather sexed?

Can someone please answer this before it gets buried?  I know I can look at other images on the computer to confirm, but I'm trying to gain some chicken ID confidence.  Thanks.smile.png

Nova, sweet chicks.  We're looking for silkies for next spring, too.  Black skin, more toes than normal, and feathered legs is the way to ID those in a chick crowd, right?

Amy, I wish I knew. Some sort of bantams Cochin? She looks a lot like my black bantams Cochin Skeeter.

Mother Nature is indeed strange.

As I was slicing cukes for canning, I dropped one on the floor. Majick, my 12 YO samoyed snapped it up as a snack. Then the girl dogs came in for a treat too.

Picture these dogs sitting pretty for a treat and begging.

Going to be some pickle dog farts tomorrow. sickbyc.gif

FarmerBoy: Thanks for sharing! I will definitely keep him in prayer! I know it might sound strange, and it is difficult to express, but I think there is so much to learn from babes like Micah.  A friend of mine had a little boy with an severe encephalocele...they were told he would be still born, or die very shortly after.  They wanted to do a c-section, but she decided to have him turned and deliver him breech so that she would have an easier recovery, and he would not have as much trauma to his head.  Much to the doctors surprise he was born alive, and not only that, but at 7 hours old they took him home!  He went on to live 67 days, defying all odds.  There was nothing that could be done because it was such a rare condition they didn't know anything about it, but I believe his life was a miracle, and he amazed me every day.  Do see his parents faith, and his perfection even in his earthly imperfection was amazing.  Every moment is a blessing, and you can tell Micah's parents believe this too.  Even though it is a terribly heart wrenching situation, I think that is a very beautiful, inspiring thing to witness.  I will keep them in prayer!

Nova:  I totally agree! Loved that post!  I hope I didn't come off as agreeing with the protestors...I just literally meant I couldn't understand what exactly they were protesting...I had heard of them before though...i in no way agree with them though, just to be clear. clap.gif

Yay for chickies! I love the pics!  Looks like that coop is going to be put to lots of good use!  What kind of hen was that that hatched them? (I have a few guesses, but I am new to all this chicken stuff, and I will think one thing initially, then start second guessing myself, and before I know it, I'm thinking that I have no clue! lol!)

Opa:  Funny post! :)

I showed DH the chickens I found on CL that I really want, and he LIKES them! celebrate.gifSo now I just need to get this stinkin coop done before someone else buys them!

And...I wasted my whole night and did NO knitting. boo.  Off to try to get a little done before I fall asleep.  Hopefully more than a little bit since I wanted this done already! This is why I only knit socks with sport weight yarn! rant.gifI always forget until I start making something and then it takes FOREVER!

RaZ: lol. sickbyc.gif pickle farts!

I'm in Southwest Michigan in a small town called "Paw Paw". We're about 25 minutes west of Kalamazoo. We raise Dark Campbell Ducks, Pilgrim Geese, Buff Orpingtons, Dominiques, Silkies, Pekin (Cochin Bantams), and various other bantams. We also have a pet Mallard, pet White Pekin Duck, and pet Embden Goose. Anyone else in the Paw Paw area?
