Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi fellow Michiganders, have you ever experienced your roosters actively chasing off wild turkeys?

Our yard is 100% fenced in, but our boy Trevor noticed a few wild turkeys in the woods outside of it. He ended up doing a bit of a display (flapping his wings loudly, crowing) and subsequently disappeared for about 1.5 hours in the direction of the turkeys.

Is this common? I'd also like to note that Trevor does not have a flock currently, as our pullets aren't big enough to comingle in the yard with him yet. He does know they are there though.

Oh! Well, in that case, you'd probably have to pay someone to do the chores in your stead. Unlike watching and playing with chicks, chores aren't fun!

I definitely don't have that kind of money!

Currently, my brain is feeling a bit stretched between the new puppy (picked him up in February), new chicks, house chores, building a chicken coop, and garden/outdoor chores. I need to make myself a schedule...

Do like many of us do... forget the chores and just play outside, lol
Put a sign in my kitchen for hub to do dishes or to leave the money for me to do it,lol He does dishes and cleans the stove. I just play with the chickens and crochet, lol

Sorry, everyone, I've been completely swamped with work and travel. We have a huge trip to go on but I will be more active on the CS stuff after May 1!

Birds are doing really well. I've actually been working with my "aggressive" rooster and he is starting to trust me and the flogging has stopped as well as the stalking. It's going so well, I'm glad I didn't cull him or rehome him. It got so much worse when I took all the bad advice about pinning him or carrying him around. I know many will laugh but I couldn't cull any bird unless it was to end suffering. I'd rather learn the animal's behavior and adjust my behavior that is influencing it.

My bantam did not pass from AI, thankfully, but the birds will live in the run until after spring migration is over (at least). I'm currently breaking a broody and I just need everyone to settle down by Monday so I can leave and not worry about them.

Who am I kidding, I'll still worry about them.
