I put the yogurt back in there this morning and they all attacked it (unlike last night where they all huddled in the corner).  She pooped while I was down there and it looked normal?  And her butt isn't quite a bad this morning as it usually is the day after she gets a bath, but I also put lanolin on it (no vaseline in the house) last night.  Not yellow, no blood, just watery and white.  No runny noses, no sneezing or anything!  It's just strange.  I'm crossing fingers that the yogurt in the morning for the next few days will straighten everything out.

Congrats  grandbaby!  I hope surgery was uneventful for mama!

We're cleaning up the yard for the birthday party and I took a few things out of the shed and checked for eggs while I was in there: found TWO eggs today!  They're slightly different in color, so I know it's not the SLW being an overachiever.  :)

Apparently my hens have not read the "Chicken Rule Book".

I received 8 eggs so far today and the only girl in moult is the BLA.  A BSL had her juvenile moult and still looks a bit ragged, but she was in the box this morning and I think she produced.

All of the other girls are still fully feathered and doing what they are being paid to do. The only odd thing is that I haven't heard an egg song in days. I don't know if I'm bragging or complaining.  idunno.gif

If I only had your chicken troubles Raz... minus the court thing... How is that going?

I have been dying to open the coop and find an egg... No such luck.

Leave it to me to have mostly roos and hens that refuse to lay...

I was wondering if I should put a bait egg out there to see if I have an egg eater...Hmmm... I don't want them to learn to eat the eggs though.

It is quite possible that they are not ready yet.

I'm not trying to rub it in...but I have 12 dozen eggs in cartons right now. Not counting the 2 dozen I boiled on Monday and the 12 I cooked up for me and the dogs.   It simply amazes me that the output is so good, when most lore suggests that there should be a dramatic drop in production come fall when there is less light/warmth/live food/etc.

I have moved the runs around and that gives them new territory to explore. So they are getting fresh bugs and vegetation, so maybe that helps.

Court thing has been postponed, yet again.

Your hens may not be ready yet. I had a few that waited over 30-35 weeks before POL, while their sister had her 1st egg at 20 weeks.
