Grew up with an outhouse on one of the family property's... Sis has a heck of a garden there now...

 

 

Nothing wrong with the outhouse but I like my septic tank system.

I would personally never do this, weenie that I am, I deal with enough human poo at work (RN), thankyouverymuch! When I was a kid though, we used to go to a cabin owned my my mom's (then) boyfriend's family that had a composting toilet. It did not stink.

Brand new to urban chicken keeping in 2012. Currently mother hen to Beyonce (Silkie mix), Lucille Bawk (RIR), Bernadette Peepers (BR), and finally, an EE named Goldie Hen.

I don't take any medications, so I don't worry about that.  I only recently realized how many chemicals there are in the foods I purchase from the big food industries.  I've been canning my homegrown vegies for years.  Once I realized how bad the meats I buy are, I started "getting on the ball" with the chickens and the meat rabbits.....So yes, I should defitely not be putting those things in my body.....which is why we do a lot of hunting and such......

The reclaimed water isn't for human consumption. 

What concerns me about human compost is the medications that we take and crap out, not to mention the chemicals and other stuff going into the garden.  Maybe if you use just your own it would be OK.

One of the best fertilizers that I use for my lawn is Milorganite which is made from the sludge at the sewerage treatment plant in Milwaukee, WI. It is also the favorite fertilizer for golf courses. I like it for the lawn and flowers but I have never used it in my vegetable garden

Yes, Milorganite is made from sewage, which is different from and potentially much more dangerous than humanure (sewage contains chemicals from home and industry, as well as unsafe levels of heavy metals). Fine for lawns and flowers, but I would never use it to grow anything I planned to eat.

There are pharmaceutical drugs  in sewer water that cannot be filtered out that will kill you if not taken with the proper companion drugs and ones that are lethal with what you may be taking and it does not need be much.  The Bible says to bury your waste.

"Guns don't kill people abortion kills people."

 

The human will is too powerful for philosophy or science.

 

 

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton agreed on little publicly, but they did agree that when the public treasury becomes a public trough and the voters recognize that, they will send to government only those who promise them a bigger piece of the pie

YEEE GODS PEOPLE!! I am not saying im going skimming with a butterfly net, neck deep into the sewer system of the city.Im saying I will build my OWN composting toilet for ME to use and make MY OWN compost.
