First time chicken owner and worried how to keep them cool, have completely hosed down the coop, put in a small "pool" of water and they have plenty of fresh drinking water. The coop is well ventilated but this heat is bad!!!

I turn my hose on mist, and spray them a few times and day. I fill containers, like milk jugs with water and freeze and change them through out the day. This way they can lay near them. It's been pretty darn hot here too! I also put a fan outside pointing into their run so the air blows past the frozen containers. They seem to like it.

+1 on this. I freeze the small drink bottles for the chicks, and set out 3 or 4 at a time. The hens like a 2-liter bottle setting on its side with the cap slightly loose. They lean on it to get cool, then go over and drink the ice drippings. Seem to like the little bit of mud as well! 110 today in the Mojave.

I have a box fan that I have hung on the wire wall of the chicken coop and I leave it on low in this heat - my girls settle right down in front of it and the love the breeze blowing up their feathered butts lol

I also have bought more watermellon since getting the hens - but they love it and I cut a good 4 inch wedge every morning to take out to the girls (I only have 5) probably could not afford to do this with a bigger flock

I also just freeze plastic soda bottles of water and put in their waterer -

For me though my girls seem to love that fan turned on the lowest setting
