combining feeds?

Hi,

My girls just turned 17 weeks old, they were born April 13th, so they are about 5 months old now. I have about 25lbs. of Grow crumbles left, can I start mixing in some layer pellets? Or should I just keep on the grow food until  the bag is finished? Do they need to start getting more calcium?

thanks for any and all advice

No need for the layer pellets until they are actually laying.

ok thank you :) I thought they needed it ahead of time to build up the calcium for the egg shells, glad I asked

You can also feed their shells back to them for added calcium. Mine prefer that to the oyster shell.

If your going to run out of grower before they reach 20 weeks, there should not be a problem mixing the feeds before.  At point of lay they are nearly grown and the extra calcium they will take in will do little if any harm.

I don't get better with age, only more confused(ing).
