Anyone growing second crop? - Page 2

Yes, we did broccoli and cabbage last year. I remember eating fresh broccoli in December and it was wonderful! This year we're doing broccoli, cabbage, spinach and kale. We also did a late planting of bush beans which are beginning to bloom now.

Two old people and two young-adult children. One senior chocolate lab and one rescued black and tan American Coon Hound. Home of "The Best Mouser In The World", Lily, a calico cat that adopted us. 2 Black Star's, 1 Red Star and BABY CHICKS! Have added 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Ameraucana, and 1 Delaware to the flock. The construction of our new coop: http://www.backyardchickens.com/...

Green beans are looking Good...

Our green beans just started to bloom this week so I hope they produce. We only had some in late spring and then they died in our horrible summer heat. Our brassicas are starting to look good. I'm really bad at keeping track of what I plant in seed pots and I planted broccoli, savoy cabbage, and brussels all at the same time so what's growing where is going to be a good surprise when they get a little bigger. I need to get my lettuce and spinach planted this week or I'll run out of time. I don't think we'll put the green house back up for another month or so. Temps are still in the upper 80's to low 90's some days. We'd just fry everything during the day.

Barred rocks, red sex link, silver wyandotte, white leghorns, mottled cochin banty, silkie, blue swedish and khaki campbell ducks, meat rabbits, white holland turkeys, turtles, cats, and as much garden space as one can cram into a small urban yard half given over to the chickens
