Thank you!

She's been broody for a while -seems very determined,

I hope she doesn't give up either because the eggs under her weren't cheap!

She was born last year in May. thumbsup.gif

Good morning cool.png

Just checked on my beauties ~

one laid me an extra large egg in the nest box and the other was faithfully sitting on her eggs in her special nest.

I gently lifted her and placed her outside of the hen house so she could get her morning dustbath/stretch/grazing done.

She dusted, ate grass & pellets & boss and gently placed herself back over her eggs within 10-15 minutes.

I think next time I let her out I'll put a towel over the eggs to keep them warm.

1st full day = aok! thumbsup.gif

I'm jumping in. Today is day 1 of incubation. I have 15 expensive ameraucana eggs so Its stressing. I should not candle...well,  I'm going to do it only 2 times (I'll try). Also have a few EE's eggs from my hens. One of them is a doble yolker that is huge. I know most of them don't make it to hatch day but I'll try and see...It's so big I think should have space for 2 developing embrios.

20 chickens, 6 dogs, 4 cats.

When I got my shipped eggs in I let them sit for 12 hours before I set them. When I did put them in the bator I placed them upright in an egg carton and did not turn them for 5 days just to let everything settle even more so. I read this article (http://www.heavensentranch.com/incubationtechniques.htm ) about incubation techniques and  shipped eggs and last night when I candled (day7) the air cells all looked great. I have 11/15   that have made it to day7. Tossed the other 4. 1 had no development and the other 3 all had blood rings. 11/15 is not bad for shipped eggs in my opinion.

Eggs in the Bator: Chocolate, Crele, and Lav. Orps, CCL, Khaki Campbell, Silver Appleyard, Bourbon Reds,Midget Whites, Asst. Guineas & Jumbo quail.
