When do Maran's typically lay? - Page 3

My 2 CM's are starting to show signs of being ready to lay.....very red combs and very noisy too!  Lucy, the pullet that we thought would lay last, has laid 2, maybe 3 eggs so far.  The other day she popped out an egg as she was going up the ladder to get in the henhouse!  She had already laid an egg earlier that morning, so I was surprised to she her pop out the 2nd one...lol!   Haven't seen any eggs from Ethel yet, but she's been noisy and has been checking out the nest boxes!  ~Beulah (My CM's are 21 weeks old)

Mine will be 6 months old in 1.5 weeks. Her comb is as big as my RIR, so it's got to be any day now.:p

We have been waiting ...not so patiently... for our Marans to lay too.   Finally, we have an egg!  It was brown with dark speckles.  I was hoping for the really dark "chocolate"  egg color. hmm.png  Does this mean that her eggs will always be this color or can they get darker with time?

Their eggs are much darker that other breeds.  Our Maran pullet hasn't laid yet and today my husband said she mounted one to the 'other'  hens. She doesn't have spurs or tall tail feathers and hasn't crowed but I am still worried.

well it's been almost 3 days and no more eggs from my maran, just one chocolate egg, I'm wondering why since she is my only copper maran, and the rest of my girls lay light brown eggs and one lays green eggs. I want more! Lol
