what did DH see?

DH recently picked up a few chicks for me while I was at work.  The woman he got them from had a particular chicken that he really liked the look of, and apparently I need to try to find him one now!  lau.gif

These are the details I got:  "It was kind of yellow colored, with grey like those other ones you got."  Translation: it's probably buff with grey or blue lacing (the "other ones" are laced wyandottes).  It did not have muffs or a beard.  I'm guessing it's an EE, but if anyone else has a suggestion, I'd LOVE to hear it!

Current owner of: 1 Silver-laced and 1 Gold-laced and 3 Blue splash Wyandottes; 1 Mottled Houdan; 1 Gold-laced Polish; 7 EEs; 1 Lavender Orpington; 1 Cuckoo and 1 Blue Splash Marans; 1 White and 1 Barred Plymouth Rocks.  Wishlist of other breeds a mile long.......

DH knows next to nothing about chickens, so he wouldn't be able to tell me about comb type, and probably didn't notice leg color.  When he said that it was like my wyandottes, he meant that it was laced, not body shape.  And it was LF.  (We won't be going back to look around or get more chicks there since we had illness problems with the chicks that we did get.)

I know that his description isn't particularly helpful, but it's all I've got at this point.  I'm sure it's nothing too exotic....

Have him look through a breed site like feathersite.com or a poultry book to point out what he's trying to tell you. You might get closer that way.

My first thought when you described the coloring was a blue laced red wyandotte...The colors vary from lighter blue to really dark blue. these are not my pictures, as both of my BLRW's turned out to be roos hit.gif

Lol sounds like my OH! He picked up some eggs from a farm gate and we incubated them. I quizzed him, trying to get any and everything out of him that I could so I could try to guess what breeds were there. I never could find out!

Friesians, Sebrights, Barnevelders, Araucanas, Cream Legbars, Dutch Bantams, Vorwerks, an Appenzeller Spitzhauben, a Sabelpoot and a few crosses .
