Hi. I have a 2 month old standard blue cochin that i ordered from Ideal Poultry. It was sexed at the hatchery as a pullet. I am starting to wonder if it is a roo though. It's comb and wattles are much more red than the other chicks I ordered. I dont see any pointed feathers on the neck or saddle area, but this is my first time raising chickens so I am not sure what I am looking for. I am hoping some of you might be able to figure out the sex of this bird. I would love to keep it but can't have roosters where I live. Thanks for the help.

Great. I am glad I am getting pullet answers. :) Here are a couple more pics from today. She is 10 weeks today.

at 8 - 10 weeks old looks like a roo

that comb is bright red

that black one is a pullet and you can compaire the combs

roos have a more larger and redder comb by 10 weeks

Thats why I was wondering. It's comb and wattles are so red, compared to the other chicks that have no color.

Need some help i recently purchased these beautiful feathered toot batman was just wondering if she a hen or rooster she might be 2 months old. I also had a couple of questions in regards to leaving her/ him with baby chicks its other siblings died my husky puppy eat them she or he was the only survival my husband and I decided to purchase more baby chicks so it wouldn't be alone now that we have them 2 of my baby chicks have died there butts were plucked I'm guessing they were bullied I'm guessing because of there differences in there tone color I'm guessing they were races all my baby yellow orange chicks are doing great but my gray baby chicks have died still have one left but it's barely moving it's still peeping I been feeding it. has its eyes closed. God willing it makes it. Was thinking in buying more gray ones if this one make it. Any advice would be appreciated.

First look and everything was saying cockerel....usually pullets do not get red combs until point of lay..
