Darn, darn, darn, darn and DARN!  th.gif

And, yes, I hate being wrong.

But it's so weird... she, I mean, he is the same age as Henry, but he's been crowing a long time already.  And they are buds, too!  Strange.  I guess I'll wait it out and see what his personality is like.

Thanks everyone!  (Dh is gloating, too!  lol)

It looks like an EE cockerel.

I've got 2 cats, Dyllen and Star. I have 17 chickens; 3 BLRW, 3 mutts, 2 EEs, 2 White Rock roosters, 1 RIR, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Red Star, 1 Golden Campine, 1 unknown hen, 1 Partridge cochin, and 1  Golden Polish. I also have 1 Swedish/Black Indian Runner laying on 8 eggs.

I had 2 BO roos that were together all the time. We could only keep one so I kept the one that I thought would be the nicest. We took "P" (we called the chicken Pat because we could never decide which sex it was) to his new home. I wondered if they would miss each other. The next day both crowed for the first time, in seperate yards miles apart. Perhaps the delay in crowing was out of respect. Both are doing well.

I'll be curious how it works out with these two.  They even sleep near each other every night.  Not NEXT to each other... there is always one pullet separating the two.  Funny.

Maybe he isn't crowing out of respect.  Henry is definitely the head honcho.

As long as they don't fight I can keep both.  I have 20 pullets, so that should be a good ratio where the girls aren't harassed.

I didn't realize they could go 6 or 7 months before crowing.  Wow!

So sorry! I know how you feel. I have 2 BOs from a dozen straight run chicks I bought in april. "Stew" showed roo signs early. "Stacy" still doesn't have the comb size or color of Stew's, but the saddle feathers have started coming in. Stew is so far my best crower. And not a peep out of the other one. That makes at least 5 roos out of a dozen. Me thinks the feed store supplier uses his "straight run" sales to unload his unwanted cockerels!
