Hi from Harrodsburg Ky.

Thread Starter

I started raising chickens this past spring when I bought 10 RIR from Tractor Supply.  They are just about ready to lay eggs for the first time.  I think when the weather cools a bit they will start. I have search this site many time for information on how to raise my chickens.  This site is wonderful with lots of knowledge in it's pages.

I bought another 25 birds from a Hatchery, they didn't live a month, a raccoon or a few raccoons got them in the night.  I have tightened everything yup after that and haven't lost any more birds.

That is Henry, my avatar, bought him from a lady off craigslist, he was sold to her as a hen, but turned into a Henry.  He's a blue Marans.

Been working on my old metal shed, turning it into a coop for the winter months, it's closer to the house.

700

Yep that's what killed 20 of my birds.

Greetings from Kansas, mark wayne, and welcome-byc.gif!  Yep, those coons can be pretty determined once they've located a free meal!  Best of luck keeping them at bay!
