I started a new broodier hen on Monday and and another one yesterday. I had 4 hatch off the last one and then I had someone with a incubator hatch out 20 more for me but they did not make it.

Tell us about your new incubator! frow.gif

I'm getting mine set up for a new hatch but probably won't set the eggs until tonight or tomorrow. Right now I'm using a Little Giant which was given to me (Free is good!). However, when I get the rest of the parts together I want to make myself another ice chest/cooler incubator.

I made it out of a six pack styrofoam cooler and a 20 watt night light bulb. And 5x7 picture frame glass. But I had to watch it constantly for temperature. My birthday is the 25 so my husband suprised me with a new one. Its just a $40 one from our local farm store but its working great so far! All the eggs are developing so I hope it don't let me down

The one I made a couple of years ago was made using an Igloo type ice chest, a thermostat, a picture window, and a computer fan. A light bulb provided heat and I used a small container of water if I needed added humidity. It worked very well and held the heat better than my Little Giant does. I just set my eggs late last night in my Little Giant so we will see how it goes in next three weeks!

Its so nerve recking incubating eggs. The suspense and the worrying. But once they come its all worth it:)
