what chickens are the best at flying

I've always loved chickens and because of that ive only ever rescued battery hens until recently. i got a welsumer hen for my last birthday and she is a great flyer and is able to clear a field and my house and barn. this got me thinking that i would love a chicken that could fly really well. all my battery chickens are either to slow to run from a threat or the turn around and try to fight it. they are able to fight of cats and some times even dogs (if they attack together). but all this came undone when a fox came and killed 2 of them. my welsumer just turns and runs but stops if the others don't come. i would love a breed of chicken that could fly well and would go with my welsumer so it would encourage the others to fly as well (their wings are not clipped). do you have any ideas.

I live in england so i would love to be able to get it from the west midlands. also bantams are out of the question.

Hello and welcome to BYC frow.gif I've seen chickens fly very far, usually when they get a fright! But I don't know which breeds are the best at it.

I have quite a few breeds and the best at flying have to be my Old English Game.
