Don't know sex, waiting for the crowing...when does it normally start?

I have 8 mixed breed chicks that are 7 weeks old. I have no idea what sex any of them are and figured the sure fire way to know is to wait until the crowing starts. When do they normally begin crowing?

I was going to post pictures but I've not been successful getting a good set of pictures. Plus they are a hodge podge....mom is half Polish and half Leghorn, dad was half Orloff and something else. Of the 8 babies, 2 are white like mom, 2 are buff, and 4 are deep brown (some partridges). I know they are all her babies since she is my only white egg layer.

Just wondering when I might expect a little more noise from the coop!
Thanks

If you have a rooster around them he may inhibit they young guys from crowing. At this age I'd look for thicker legs and larger combs. I'ts usually easy to sex birds around 12-15 weeks, roos will start getting hackle and saddle feathers, combs much larger and redder, etc.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!
