mud bath PIC

I went out to make sure the cows hadn't broken into the birds area again and saw this.  One of my Africans deciding that this was a much nicer spot than in the pool with the others.

We had a good amount of rain last night and the ducks and the geese have made this lovely mud pit which is just a depression when its dry out.

I've been waiting for this little one's wings to start staying up.  It's wing feathers are finally in but were so heavy they were both drooping.  The right side has fixed itself but I think I'm going to wrap the left one tomorrow.

LoL, ours stomp in mud holes. I wouldnt wrap a wing that is sagging they self correct with time, its just the weight and needing to build muscle. Wrapping will stop the exercising of the wing.

Celtic, I am really concerned that it is angel wing.  The other side corrected but this side is sticking out all the time.

Thankfully I have only ever had one do that, but it didn't ever correct itself.

Looks just like the start of my girl who had angel wing. I would wrap it myself. Angel wing is really ugly.

Cute picture!

Well we did wrap it.  Actually I held and gave directions to DH.  It was too loose and it already came off.  It was only on for 24 hours but the wing has (so far) been staying closer to the body, not sticking out.   fl.gif  I had bought some wrap and some medical tape but I guess what with all of the bathing and preening going on, it just didn't hold.

I'm going to keep an eye on it and DH will have to help me again but he's not off until Thursday.

I used packing tape. I was told to use duct tape, but I didn't have any around. Just be sure to change it every few days so it doesn't get too tight. Baby oil helps loosen it. smile.png

I think what I'll do is wrap it in vet wrap again but this time instead of medical tape on the outside, I'll use my husband's hockey tape.  That stuff is sticky and won't come off with water.  I just don't want to put tape directly onto the feathers, I can't imagine taking it off.
