When will our roosters be able to fertilize the eggs? They've been doing a little practice mating...

Fertilized eggs? Our hens and roosters are all about the same age 4 and a half months old and we are hoping that our hens start laying soon, My question is when will our roosters be able to fertilize our eggs and how soon can we get that.

when your hens start laying your firdst egg will be fertile

although they might be too small or not good quality to use in incubation

wait a few weeks after laying begins then use those eggs

For me, the roosters become fertile before the chickens. My roosters have started being fertile around 4 months old, and their sisters weren't laying til 5-6 months old.
