Drakes and hawk alerts-are they like roosters? - Page 2

My drake just watches like the rest of the ducks. The geese sound the alarm. The ducks do as the geese tell them. Since they were raised together they move as one flock. Between roosters and the geese we have an alarm system. The geese actually chase the ducks that they feel aren't moving fast enough to cover. Too funny!

One amazing wife, 3 kids, an American Buff gander, 2 American Buff goose goslings, 1Embden gosling, 3 Toulouse goslings, 3 adult and 4 duckling pekins, 1 WR rooster, 5 WR hens, 1 buff orpington, 1 old beloved mix breed hen, a bunch of chicks for the freezer, ducklings hatching in the incubator, 2 barn cats, and a red standard poodle.

I got free range guineas so I'm pretty sure that any predator will be fully known to everyone within a 5 mile radius! lol

Loving my poultry. Have Guineas as well!

They are way too loud for my liking. All the time.. Never. Shut. Up.

My guineas are young still but I find my ducks to be 10x louder. Sometimes they annoy the crap out of me! Still, the barn is far enough from the house that we hear nothing when we are inside.

Ducks are loud too, but the loud sounds guineas make are ear piercing.

I just recently volunteered at a chicken show to watch the poultry (ie: feed, water, protect from bad kids, etc) and the guineas were way too loud. Everyone agreed lol.
