Oh. My. God.
I'm thinking about trading her in for a nice quiet rooster.
She's at least started mixing things up a little so that between the "hey! hey! HEY!!!" there's a little "hey there fella... let's go for a swim..." but definitely not calming down at all. On the other hand, she still isn't laying either. Or, so far as I have seen, getting laid... And she doesn't seem to be happy about that. Would it really have been too much to ask for the two sex-crazed birds out there to be into each other? But no. Little black duck has a thing for her half brother, and the wee little guy wants the Pekin. Or one of the other drakes. Guess he likes them hard-to-get. Those other drakes don't seem to have caught on to the whole scene yet, I guess maybe because they're a bigger breed? They're Welsh Harlequins. Though, we had one that was three days older who we got rid of two weeks ago when he started to seem interested.
I'm really hoping that once the boys are taking care of her, um, needs, she'll stop squawking at all of the world outside their pen as if anyone passing by might be a potential suitor. Letting them have a little ranging time might help, too, but I need to learn how to clip wings first. We herd them from their night cages to the yard pen, and the other night she flew off over the neighbor's garage. Looped right around back again, but her brother followed her then got lost. We had to go digging through the neighbor's flower beds to find him.
