Mating?

My geese are housed with our ducks.  Our male pekin has been very active for a few weeks.  The ducks and geese are all 16 weeks old.  My geese are a pair as far as I know.  They were sexed as day old goslings.  When I changed their kiddy pools today one of the female ducks was doing a "squat"(chicken term) in the water.  My "female" goose Natasha was swimming and then grabbed at the duck  and the duck didn't move just as if it were the drake.  Then Natasha mounted the duck.  Does that mean that I don't have a goose and gander but possibly 2 ganders?  That is the only mating activity I have seen from the geese.  I was expecting geese to start mating in the fall.  Other than this Natasha seems to be a female.  She is smaller her voice is lower and she is a little more standoffish.  Boris is more shrill stands taller and Natasha follows him everywhere.   Should I be concerned or is this normal?

ducks and geese (at least around here) when young and hormones are first running seem to be more likely to be girl/girl, boy/boy, boy/girl and even duck/goose action.

You can always submit feathers (pull out) to be DNA sexed, it is simple runs around $20 each and is quick turn around for answers.

I would be careful with the geese and ducks so the geese dont hurt the ducks since they are so much smaller

Thanks!  I will probably wait and see for a little while.  I just wondered if that is common for them to do or not.  It seems like when we did not have a rooster with the hens we would see them mount each other.  Thank you!

I will keep an eye on them and separate them if the behavior continues.
