July chicks growing up

I hatched 4 chicks in my homemade bator in early July. I moved them outside when they were just a week old (turned their heat light on at night). Today I fenced off a portion of my coop/run and put them out with the rest of the flock. I put a small dog house out with them to use as a coop at night. Out of my 3 chicks I'm pretty sure 3 are hens and one is a rooster. The one has a comb over twice as big as the rest and the skin under his beak is growing as well. The others are not. His tail is also growing straight up where the others are smaller and not growing upright. I'd post pics but I can't find my camera. BUT does this sound right??? He's a dominique x BO. Any other factors I should look for other than crowing in a month or so?

It may take a little longer for him to crow that. Sounds like a 'roo from the tail, comb and waddles. The legs are usually thicker with bigger joints also. They also tend to be a little more outgoing than hens.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

The hen was the Dominique. Looks like the chickies are fitting in with the flock. Lucky for me my flock isn't very aggressive because this morning I went out and one of the chickies had let itself in with the big birds. They were just ignoring it. Glad I didn't find it pecked to death. Figure I'll give them all about a week to get to know each other then take out the fence. We'll see how that goes. How long until I need to separate out any other roos from my current roo?
