New and Have questions!

Thread Starter

Hi I am new to this Forum thing and NEW to raising chicks!

It has been so much fun for the whole fam! My husband at first was not too excited but now is wanting his own chick and is preparing a spot for their adorable chicken coop in our yard! I can't wait!!!

So I have a Road Island Red Rose who is 8 weeks we are thinking

A beautiful Easter egger Sarah who we think is 8 weeks also

And then we have an adorable Buff Orpington who we know is 4 weeks. We got her when she was only two weeks

I am wondering if any of you have any thoughts on if we have Pullets or Roosts?

Would love any of your thoughts

Thanks so much!

I will try to get better Pics tomorrow when they are out in the Sun lightsmile.png

Well we ordered 10 Salmon Faverolle pullets, and we finally figured out we got 3 roosters and 2 dorking hens. We love them all no matter what. They are so much fun. Good luck with yours, there very cute!big_smile.png

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan big_smile.png

Post good clear shots of their heads, including their combs, in the What Breed or Sex is this Thread

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Hello and welcome to BYC frow.gif Well, I didn't see any obvious roosters in your pics, but I may have missed one. Do as 1muttsfan said and post clear pics of their heads so we can see their combs.

Greetings from Kansas, Urbanchickenmom, and welcome-byc.gif!  Happy you joined us.  I've never been good at guessing (guessing correctly, anyway) gender on young chickens.  So I'll leave that to the experts.  I hope they turn out to be what you want.  Best of luck!

Hi and welcome-byc.gif from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. They are still a little young for ID's but a good body shot along with the head works best. Comb size is not always a good indicator of a roo. I had a buff orpington that had a huge red comb. Everyone thought it was a roo. Turned out to be a very good laying hen. thumbsup.gif
