First, yes our turkeys free range like our chickens but only under our watchful eyes otherwise we have a couple that tend to fly places we can't find them. They also have a tendency to "tease" our bantams. They are so funny!
The only time our turkeys ever scratch is in the dirt pile we have for them to "bathe" in. They do sometimes get in the garden beds but they don't scratch them up, usually they're just on their way to somewhere else and in the meantime they step on everything that's planted and growing. They'll also eat stuff. They like our corn and okra for some reason ... not the vegies, the leaves on the plants. Turkeys are great fun to have. We love them and they have amazing personalities. They are curious about everything though.
