If they have each other they will recover, just don't let them see what you are doing to their friend. They may not get over that.

Ho no no no no no..... i believe animals to be intelligent, i wouldn't even let the chicks see what's going on so they don't get scared. But I'm find it hard to think of taking a friend from my ducks.

Think of it this way, say your chicken is a pullet. and one of your ducks is a drake, the drake will try to mate with your pullet eventually and probably kill her since ducks and chickens aren't made to breed. if your sure you have 2 female ducks then why not just keep the chicken.

Isn't it something how we begin to tune in to their feelings?

Nine beautiful Runners, four beautiful Buffs, thousands of beautiful memories and counting.

Looking for ducks?  Please consider adopting rescued ducks.  There are many places and people who do rescues, but we are not allowed to post the links due to BYC regs.  So fire up your web browsers and find some sweet, grateful duckies.

I have 2 Muscovy ducks that imprinted on my 6 chicks. Every time I'd move them or the chicks, they'd go NUTS! They eventually started going into the coop at the same time my chickens do, and sleep with them. When I heard the chickens, the muscovys follow me... They love rheir flock mates... Ducks could show humans a thing or two about acceptance among each other.
