is Dumor (dumour) a good feed brand?

I'm using Dumour, and I haven't heard any complaints from my lovely little chicks, and I haven't really noticed any smell...but we're switching over from Dumour once our 25 lb. bag is empty. It's just to expensive for us, and we have to drive ALL the way to Tractor supply, and gas prices aren't the cheapes either.

What are you switching to?

It seemed that DuMore was higher than Purina.
Crazy. I just asked about this feed a couple of days ago. I would like to not feed Purina (a Nestle company, brought to you by the folks who think clean water is not a basic right for humanity as they sell you the water they stole from the public domain at a premium. Sorry, rant over)
I guess since I just brought my chickies home, the search will continue.
And yes, a vegetarian diet for chickens is dumb. Even Hummers eat bugs!
(I will have to tell Hubby to let me have the leftover fish stuff after he cleaned his catch...)

Great info.

I don't use Dumor, but used it for several years due to it being the lowest priced feed at TSC. Here are the issues I've had:

  • 2 bags purchased with moldy food inside (seemed like a "one-off" issue; could have been store storage)
  • FAR more dusty than other brands

The last straw was buying a bag last fall and it was at least 50% dust. Paying 10% less for 50% less feed isn't very smart. I switched over to Nutrena and the amount of dust is what you'd expect in a bag of feed. Same amount you'd get in a bag of pet food (.1%?).

Ive used Dumor. Aside from its cheesy, nostalgic name it is fine. Smelly poop? Not so I noticed. It is proprietary to TSC, I think, but I dont know that for certain. It isnt the cheapest, either.
Regardless, it is chicken feed and does what such things are supposed to do.
We have been reading about the problems of pet food sacks containing PFAS, forever chemicals, and the very toxic chemicals leaking into the food. Does anyone know if this is true of Dumor saks?
