I have some 3y old hens and some pullets that started laying. I'm trying to figure out who is laying and who is left to start laying, but I can't figure out who's eggs belong to who :)

I have 2 welsummers, 3 EE's, 2 Black sex links, and 2 dominiques that I got new this year. I know the 2 black sex links and the 2 dominiques are laying because I've actually SEEN them :) and I have been getting one blue egg for the past 3 days. At first it was easy to figure out because the eggs were small, but as the days go by the size increases!

I do see a speckly egg, but it isn't very dark, and it is normal sized, not small pullet egg looking at all... would a welsummer start off making regular sized eggs? or do any other of these breeds have very light speckles?

we have 14 chickens total (4 hens and 1 silkie, and the 9 pullets) we're getting 7 or 8 eggs per day this week.

Would it be helpful for me to take a picture of tomorrows eggs all together?

Did I read right? 3 year old hens?

no, 3 years old hens. there are 4 of them.

You can look at the combs on your hens, usually when they start to lay, their combs get lighter and they become just a bit disoriented.

Sometimes they show no signs of it, so that is just another one of mother nature's secrets!

I am still trying to work out which of my SLWx is lay which egg as they are both laying small med brown eggs atm(just started laying) I think I have it worked out how to tell the eggs apart but have not had the time to stay out in the yard and watch who goes in the box when and collect the egg, it is the only way I am going to work it out. All my other hens are different breeds so it was easy to work those out. Good luck

use a ip camera and record it thats the best way and then you will know..

when new chickens lay their eggs are usually oddly shaped ot just and embrio or dont have a yolk, also when you walk up to a chicken if it squwats down then i should be laying

Should probably stop "accidentally" buying more chickens!!!

14 hens 6 pullets 2 ducks 6 chicks and 5 quails, still reckon I could fit some more in....somewhere!!!!

I haven't found either to be true in our case here. I've never got an odd shaped egg or one without a yolk... and i've had some not squat until they've been laying a couple of weeks..

There are also trap nesting boxes- so that when the hen enters the box, a door closes behind them, and they cant get back out until you open up the door again. But I don't like that idea, so it's just a suggestion..... there are also roll out nesting boxes!
