Bantam Cochin 2 months (ish) roos?

Hello! This is my first BYC post (woot woot!)

I just got 2 bantam cochins (pekin?) from a sweet lady who said they were about 2 months old. She seemed confident these were pullets. At the time I was suffering from chicken grief due to rehoming the sweetest silkie rooster you have ever seen, so maybe I wasn't thinking clearly.... :)

Looking at them now, their feathering seems slow for two months, and one of those combs is awful red! I don't know anything at all about cochins except they are cute as buttons, so maybe this is how they should look at two months? Should I wait a bit, or go back with a clearer head and try again?

Thanks!

Luna not quite as red, but still pretty pink! (much harder to photograph)

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to BYC!!!! :) I'd say two months old is about right.  They both look like roos, especially Freyja.  : /

Bantam Cochins are the sweetest birds I've ever had. The cochin hen I have now hatched several chicks two months ago, and she was a wonderful mother to her chicks.  She has also been a great layer of medium- sized eggs and she's already back to laying so quickly after being done with her chicks (she's a little over two years old).  Hope this helps!  :)

the lavender is a cockerel and i;m 200% sure on that and the white i'm leaning towards it being a pullet it might have a biggish comb but hardly any wattle development that i can see in those pics but really need a better side shot of its head to be sure though

I agree. The blue looks like roo, the white looks like pullet. Love bantam cochins.

Barred rocks, red sex link, silver wyandotte, white leghorns, mottled cochin banty, silkie, blue swedish and khaki campbell ducks, meat rabbits, white holland turkeys, turtles, cats, and as much garden space as one can cram into a small urban yard half given over to the chickens

Thanks so much for the help! I was pretty sure about Frodo (no longer Freyja :) I was not as sure about Luna (the white chicken) since her body shape seemed more girly and she has the making of a puff ball tail already, which Frodo (no longer Freyja ;) doesn't have. What kept me on the fence about her was the red at the base of her comb and all of the foot feathers. On a couple of threads I read that the boys feet feathered faster. Do I have that backwards? She doesn't have a lot of waddle, not as much as Frodo for sure. I will try to get one more shot of Luna's face.

You guys are the best!

Here is another of Luna. More waddle than she had last week for sure. She is a different shape than Frodo and a bit paler... What do you think?
