Is it true that putting an onion slice under the hay on a hen's nest...?

... will make her more likely to sit on her eggs... leading to broodiness? I was just told that by a very experienced personold.gif... but sounds soooooo silly...

Hahahaha....!!!! I did it anyways hahahaha!!!!lau.gif   I felt silly and mystical at the same time...hahahaha...  If she sits we have to come up with some reason to sell this idea... Oniony eggs...

bow.gifBeg youuuu....Stooopppp.... don't do it!!!!! Bonita Linda either hates (or loves) onions or this is the stupidest, craziest idea ever... or both.

 

Bonita Linda ate two of the five eggs... she had never done that!!!!! When I checked her nest today her beak/head was painted yellow yolk  somad.gif...

 

Bad hen!!! Bad hen!! hit.gif.... I hope that "trick" doesn't cost me now having to deal with and egg eater... wanting to kick some old man's butt right now...

Married, 1 son, I have a wonderful loving family, so that means my chickens get alot of love from us-well from me & my son mostly, but I like to pretend my husband loves it to! 1 collie dog, 2 Leghorns, 1 OEGB rooster, 5 Gold Comets,2 Dekalb Amberlinks, 2 Buff Brahma's, 2 Light Brahma's, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Col. Rock Cross, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes hens & 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte Rooster.
