My hen is not well

Any advice would be gratefully received. This morning when i let my hens out only 3 appeared. I looked in the house and the fourth one could not walk, her feet seemed to have turned in on themselves, her tail is down and she looks very sad. Does any body have any idea whats wrong with her.

Welcome to BYC!!  We need more information..   smile.png   How old is your hen? Any respiratory symptoms? (bubbly eyes, wheezing, puffy eyes, sneezing, coughing). Will she eat or drink? How is her poop? Has she still been laying eggs?  Any mites or lice? Is she standing on her feet or sitting?

She is one year old, her egg production has slowed a little, her eggs are shaded going from to brown on the bottom to a much lighter brown sometimes white and very brittle on the top. She has no respiritory problems. I seperated her from the others and she did eat and drink. Comes the afternoon she was walking properly and layed an egg. She looks as if she has been molting but her chest has been lacking in feathers for about four months. I am relatively new to keeping hens! I have checked for lice and tbey have been wormed.

I give them layers pellets and mixed grain, sometimes any left over pasta and bread. They have shell sand in their run. I also let them out for a few hours every day.

When you say "turned in on themselves" do you mean that her feet have turned  like turned your feet to have them face toe to toe inward instead of straight ahead like normal, or have her toes curled up like a closed claw  instead of flat and spread out.  kind of like a fist as opposed to an open hand? just trying to picture what you mean first

It was like she was trying to walk on the tops of her feet....... like a ballerina but over exagerated!  I hope this makes sense!

Check her for Mites or lice treat if needed and maybe worm her.
