Is it possible to sex these EE chicks?

I can't have roosters where I live. These are offered for sale nearby. Any tips for when I visit?

The only tan one in the pics is a pullet...the rest I can't tell from the pics, but I can tell you that they are NOT all EE's.  They must be mixes because I can see feathered legs on some.

thinner legs, the most feathered out and smallest comb possible  and no black and white (both colors on the same chick)  no really dark red wings either.  feathered legs might be olive eggers    good luck

silkies and (projects), sumatras, lakenvelders, frizzles, polish and (projects), black sexlinks, turkeys, red golden pheasants, Peepers, dogs, cats, fish, horses, wild kids, and one very understanding DH, come on over for a visit to the crazy farm

That's a rough group, and I agree mixed breed so that adds to the fun. As stated, thinner legs, drabber/duller coloring, the one in the middle pic with the solid tannish breast looks like a girl. Also, beware the friendly chicks!!! That's the most common lament on this board....." I hate to get rid of this rooster, he was the friendliest of all the chicks and is now my favorite". So by that reasoning go for the more stand-offish birds lol.

Well, the kittens aren't so cute anymore and the easter egger cockerels are in the freezer. Plus, I think offering them as "prizes" scared folks off! So, I'm still posting quotes, if you know it let me know. I'm very enamored of this new one, it may hang around for a while!

Which one is tan? Is it one of these three? Front, middle or back?

Click for larger photos.

The top right is the possible Olive Egger, right?

Or are any of these the tan female?

I'm not worried about these chickens being "pure"; I'm just wanting birds that lay something other than light brown since all three of the girls I have currently are laying light brown eggs.

I almost hate to suggest this but read the EE Sexing thread

Post #7 is helpful, but nothing beats seeing all those photos.

It helped me pick out a girl.  My first time picking out chicks (about the same age as what you've got there), I ended up 100% Cockerels.  The second time I tried to pick one (and only one), I got a girl laying aqua blue eggs.  I wish I had the $$$ for another one that I liked and think it was a girl too.

Yes, that is good advice. Thank you. I did read much of the thread last night but my brain started to hurt and so I was looking for a shortcut here. LOL You are right, I need practice even if its online.

yes they are mixed breeds, they are ee's. an ee is any bird that possesses/carries the blue egg laying gene. take a look at the combs and avoid any that have 3 rows of bumps (pea's), coloring avoid any that have red coming in on the wing bows and between the wings. looks like there are some single combed chicks so avoid chicks with large pinkish combs and wattles
